    Q. Can you tell me more about SickKids Foundation?
    A. Childhood is a unique and special stage of life. Thankfully, many children get through their childhood with nothing more than minor illnesses and a few cuts and scrapes. But for those whose lives are interrupted by serious injury or illness, there is The Hospital for Sick Children.

Since 1875, The Hospital for Sick Children has contributed to countless advances in children's health and the lives of millions of children have been profoundly changed for the better as a result. Outstanding patient care, research and education have helped SickKids to emerge as one of the best centres for children's health care in the world.

Since the earliest days of The Hospital for Sick Children, people from all walks of life have contributed to making SickKids better. Through their generosity, these supporters have been our main source of funding for what government does not provide for research, new equipment, and renovations. These funds help ensure that the hospital continues to be one of the world's leading paediatric centres.

The mission of SickKids Foundation is to inspire and support the philanthropic spirit in individuals and organizations. We invest our communities' contributions in outstanding paediatric care, research and education to help children at The Hospital for Sick Children, throughout Canada and around the world.

    Q. Can you tell me more about Operation Herbie?
Operation Herbie is an energetic and committed volunteer based fundraising group that has been inspiring communities and raising money for the Herbie Fund for over 27 years at The Hospital for Sick Children. The group is dedicated to bringing children from all over the world, who are in need of life-saving or life-altering surgeries, to SickKids for medical treatment.

The children are selected based on the severity of their medical needs and their lack of access to specialized medical care in their home country. No child needing medical care is denied treatment based on race, religion, geographic location or financial resources. Operation Herbie believes that the future of our world lies in the health and well being of our children; and there is no greater reason for generosity and compassion than to care for a child in need.

Operation Herbie exists solely to provide children from overseas with medical attention and life-saving operations not available to them in their countries of origin due to a lack of finances and medical expertise.
